  1. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES

According to the Service in question, the types and amount of personal information collected will vary to what is deemed necessary for the level of service to be received. 14. INFORMATION ABOUT MEDIA DATABASE

Part of Our Service to You involves access to a database (hereinafter “SELECT”, “Database”) of contacts for media and reporters. This section applies to the media Database and how We collect, process and make the Database available. Please read this carefully, and if You have any questions or concerns with regard to Your information, please contact us at: support@vrestus.com.

What Does the Database Include and How Do We Collect It?

The Database comprises of information about media outlets and reporters, that may be categorized based on their expertise in certain fields. The term “reporters” is not meant to be interpreted narrowly and shall include persons affiliated with an outlet or working independently as freelancers, bloggers, content writers, and/or influencers. It is meant to be used by You to connect to reporters and/or media outlets. For the purposes of this section the reporter is the “data subject”. 

We limit our searches to information that we believe will enable us to contact those who may be potentially interested in accessing our journalist content.

This Database shall include information such as:

The aforementioned information refers to data collected by Us that are publicly available and easy to find online. The list is not exhaustive and information will be provided where available. The information is offered on an as is basis and is expected to be updated and changes where appropriate and necessary, or by reporters opting-out.

We do not collect or process any sensitive or confidential data such as data relating to race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, sexual life, sexual orientation, political views, trade union membership, health, genetic data or biometric data, or data that falls outside the scope of the reporter’s professional capacity.

The Purpose of Using The Data 

The main objective of SELECT is to enable Our clients to search for information on reporters, to create a new media base, or expand their existing media base, and to communicate with them more effectively and in a targeted way, by:

What’s in it for reporters and influencers? Thanks to a personalized search engine, they can receive more relevant press releases.

Search results are made available to Our clients for a fee.

The Legal Basis For Data Collection and Processing

We collect and process the data of reporters in order to provide communication Services to Our clients. This is in Our legitimate business and legal interest and is compliant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.

In the event that Our client uses the data of a reporter collected through SELECT, he or she becomes the Controller of such data and is therefore obliged to provide detailed information on the manner and purpose of the processing of personal data so that the processing is in compliance with the applicable legal provisions.

We do not use reporters’ data for activities in which we consider that Our interests take precedence over any unreasonable negative impact on the reporter concerned.

Tracking 

Emails and press releases sent by Our clients via the Website may include tracking software to inform them if and when You read the email sent and whether You clicked on any links contained therein.

Automatic Profiling

We may use the reporter data included in SELECT for the purpose of automated profiling. The profiling activity that We are pursuing and its methods are limited. We use profiling to evaluate interests and the industry in which a given person functions and to make search results are available to Our clients in response to specific inquiries formulated with Our website.

For example, We may use profiling to help Our clients search for articles written by a reporter, or to determine the size of the audience (resulting from, e.g., the number of users following the person concerned in social media). This, in turn, helps Our clients to communicate more effectively with selected media and reporters.

How Long Are We Processing Reporters’ Data?

We will process the data of reporters for the period necessary for the purposes set out in this policy or until a data subject objects to their processing.

Opting Out

When making the data in question available to Our clients, We use ONLY information that is publicly available online. However, you have a right to opt-out from the collection and processing of your data. Please contact us at: support@vrestus.com and we will remove your data from the database. 

15. INFORMATION ON COOKIES

Vrestus sends a “cookie” to Your computer that contains an identification number that is unique to the computer You are using. We use this cookie to provide You with a continuous experience, and for Us to record how Our Service is being used.

As is done with most web sites, We log each visit to each web page. A log entry can contain information typically found in the “header” of Your web browser’s request such as the browser type You used, Your Internet Protocol address, and the date and time of day. We may also log Your cookie’s identification number and the URL of the last site You visited. If You are a journalist, Your journal affiliations will be noted in the record of hits for an article, and shared with Our clients as an aggregated statistic. Statistics for individual journalists’ visits are not shared. Log information is important for security, audit, quality improvement, as well as for monitoring the health and use of Our service.
